Many thanks to the class of 2027 for generating financial resources to purchase some STEM materials as well has some new STEM stories for the library. The funds were generated by the McDonald's hot lunch opportunities last spring. The class worked with Mrs. Flores on a Project Based Learning experience, begun 2 years ago, on the feasibility of sponsoring a McDonald's hot lunch. The library books purchased have dedication plates in them. Thanks for making STEM real-world! Reading is Fundamental is offering 4 interactive calendars: K-5 Activity Calendar, PreK Activity Calendar, Social Emotional Learning Calendar and Daily Book Bites. See them here. The library catalog is accessible from wherever there is an Internet connection. If you would like
your own password in order to save searches or put books on hold, please contact Mrs. Cobleigh. Bookflix, subscription-based resource, is also accessible from outside of the school. Beanstack Reading Challenges
continue! The September reading rewards were given out October 17th! AMAZEing certificates, donuts, pencils and to the top 2 readers (over 500 minutes read) a $5 credit for the Book Fair - coming November 7-10th. There is still time to log minutes into Beanstack for the October challenge. A new challenge will then begin for November. Each student is also enrolled in a year-long reading challenge. Come join the fun!! (PS If you do not remember your Beanstack login, please reach out to Mrs. Cobleigh. Open to all STC students and staff!) Beanstack - see link in left column will be used to log your reading! All students have been registered for the age appropriate challenge. Entering PreK-2nd will log books. Entering 4th-8th will log minutes. Each student has received a flyer with personal log-in information. Once you have signed in, you can log reading by clicking the blue box at upper left. You can also use the Beanstaack app from your phone. Any kind of reading counts! books, magazines, read-alouds, audio books, required reading (upper wing). Places to find books: visit the public library, read something from what you have at home, borrow a book from a friend, watch a youtube read aloud, read an ebook from the options below... Book Fair Returns to STC!!
November 7-10th We will be open during Parent-Teacher conferences as well as during days school is in session. Students in grades K-5 will have both browsing time and purchasing times. Grades 6-8 will have a single browsing/purchasing time. As part of the festivities, we will have an author visit on Wednesday, November 8 for grades K-2: Courtney Pippin-Mathur will share her book Happy Diwali. The book will be available for purchase at the Book Fair. Book Fair hours: Tuesday -Thurs 8 am-6 pm, Friday 8 am- 3 pm.
