Hello 2nd Grade!!
Mrs. Galbreath and I have put together 3 Storybook STEM challenges for you this summer. There is a paper copy of each challenge in your summer folder that Mrs. Galbreath gave you. The suggestion is to do one each month, June, July and August, so that you keep your STEMy mind growing all summer. It does not matter which order you do them in. Once you have completed the challenge, be sure that you put the finished packet back in your folder and what you built into the bag provided so that you can bring everything back to school to share with the rest of your class in August. We have given you some materials to do your building in a "Makerbox" (really a bag). You can use anything in the Makerbox plus anything you have at home. Use your imagination! Have fun!
Each challenge begins with reading a book. Then you will complete some questions about the story. And finally you will built something that connects to the story. Be sure you read the packet carefully and do the pages in order: read the story, answer the story questions, build, reflect (think about your build). Again, you can do the challenges in any order, but please complete all 3!
The electronic links to the 3 challenges are below. They are exactly the same as the ones in your summer folder. You must be signed in to your stccatholic.org Google account to access the electronic links.
There is also a separate link to each of the story recordings to make them easier to get to (also on the first page of your paper packet).
Challenge: Pete the Cat: Scuba Cat
Here is the link just to the story recording.
Challenge: Elephant and Piggie: Let's Go for a Drive
Here is the link just to the story recording.
Challenge: Pete the Kitty and the Case of the Hiccups
Here is the link just to the story recording.
